Summary: AU. Harry accidentally Apparates to an empty Grimmauld Place when he’s nine instead of to the top of the school roof when he escapes Dudley’s gang. The house is empty except for portraits and sometimes a speaking wooden face, and Harry has to kill his own food, and there’s something nasty in the cellars, and some of the portraits are mad. But this is still a vast improvement over the Dursleys.
Author’s Notes: This is one of my “Songs of Summer,” shorter fics being posted between the summer solstice and the first of August. Chobani asked for Harry accidentally Apparating to Grimmauld Place and surviving there on his own. It will have three or four parts.

Author’s Notes: This is the fourth story in my Broken Glass Life series, sequel to “Broken Glass Life,” “Dark Prince of the Glass Court,” and “Shattered Pieces of the Human.” I’d recommend reading those first. This will be a WiP, and at the moment, I don’t know how long it will be.

Decades later, Harry, who wasn’t born with the Potter Gift, is preparing to leave for the Muggle world when Minister Tom Riddle finds him and persuades him to try a risky ritual that will make him a Parselmouth if it succeeds—and change their prejudiced world.

Harry decides this is better than feeling sorry for himself because the school thinks he’s a cheater, and begins the first steps on a journey down a radiant pathway with Theo at his side.

If that means allying with Slytherins who are willing to overlook his blood for how useful he can be to them, that’s what Harry will do. Honestly, he considers himself lucky to find as much joy as he does along the way.
Author’s Notes: This is a new fic based on a request for the backstory of my one-shot “The Peculiarities of Professor Potter.” You should read that first; it details how Lily and James Potter accidentally magically disowned Harry and left him to grow up in the Muggle world, considering himself a Muggleborn, while the same magic prevented them from telling the truth. This should be fifteen chapters long. The title is a variation of a quote by Kahlil Gabran: “March on, and fear not the thorns, or the sharp stones on life’s path.”
